A Summer Garden for All Seasons

A Summer Garden for All Seasons

One aspect that is sometimes ignored while planning and designing a beautiful summer garden for homeowners to enjoy is the fact that the garden exists all year. Unfortunately, during the majority of the year, there is a massive hole in the garden in the vast majority of summer gardens. Carefully planning to avoid this process and planting flowering plants that bloom at different times of the year, as well as plants that provide beautiful foliage and greenery even when the flowers are not blooming, can help to prevent this lack of life in your summer garden.

Plant and manicure your garden on a regular basis throughout the year. Obviously, the winter months are not ideal for planting in the ground, but that doesn't mean you can't cover the gaps in your yard with flowerpots packed with seasonal gifts. There are many flowers that flourish in cold weather and would make a lovely addition to your winter garden without detracting from the beauty of your summer garden. In fact, the opportunity to include these flowers and plants in your garden without actually planting them may be a wonderful motivation to keep your garden up-to-date even during non-traditional gardening seasons.

Provide non-plant elements to your garden to provide bursts of color throughout the winter months while saving the area required for planting your summer garden when the time comes. Flowerpots are a perfect example of this, but so are lawn decorations and sculptures, which may be relocated or removed entirely during the summer months. During the long, cold winter months, keep the dirt warm in preparation for the summer garden.

Plan your summer garden over the winter months. The spring months are often spent preparing, while the autumn months are spent harvesting. The winter months would be ideal for planning the new expansions and probable moves that would be required in the following months. Laboring on your garden and enhancing it does not always require laboring in it. Once you've filled in those gaps and added a little green and color to your garden for the winter months, you can devote your whole concentration to making the coming summer garden even greater and more magnificent than ever before.

While preparing your plans, take care not to plant all of your seeds in one garden place. This means you must be open to making modifications and improvements as you learn more about the growth process and the unique gardening demands of your yard. Every growing season will offer new lessons to learn; take the time to reflect on prior seasons' lessons while creating plans for the following seasons, and make any modifications that arise along the way.

By learning from previous errors and continually looking to and anticipating future requirements, you may ensure better success for your summer garden each year, not only during the dog days of summer but throughout the year.
